When you first boot up Pillars of Eternity, you may be overwhelmed by the sheer number of options at the character creation screen.I know because I was there just a week ago. Saying otherwise is showing that you have never played around with a build at all to try and determine the way the game works.Experience the game that revitalized the classic RPG genre in a complete and definitive package that includes every expansion, bonus, and update, presenting Pillars of Eternity at its best. Same thing with any other class you deal more damage and do it at the same speed with 3 dex or 22 dex. A 5th level figher easily hits between 20 and 35 points of damage per hit with an average speed weapon at the same speed in full plate with 3 dex or 22 Dex. If it actually effected attack recovery speed that would be different but it doesn't, is having a high reflex save somewhat nice sure in certain situation thats why i tend to play sword and shield style because it off balances the negatives.Īs for the animation speed if you max out dex and equip everything that raises it it only increases the animation speed by a fracttion of a second where as with maximum might your dps is so much higher. It has no purpose you can jack it up and see for yourself on a reset it has zero effect on anything for your character on any build. No you don't it doesn't do anything it affects attack animation speed and reflex saves that is all it effects at all. There are a few broken items that can help certain characters do well, a high intellect Barbarian can do well with the spear Tall Grass as can a Ranger with the bow Stormcaller. It works well but there is a lot of micromanagment since you want to chain CC abilities so that the enemy never has a chance to act. Its design strives to retain the spirit of traditional tabletop mechanics while taking advantage of the real-time processing power of personal computers. My personal favorite would be Paladin (Tank and ACC buff), Priest (Buffer/Healer), 2 Druids (AOE DPS and CC), 2 Ciphers (Single Target DPS and CC), which is a really CC heavy party. Pillars of Eternity uses a custom rule system heavily inspired by classic and contemporary tabletop fantasy role-playing games. The best party has a mix of different functions, but probably has at least: a character who can tank for about 10s, a priest, and enough CC to immobilize a dangerous target long enough to kill it. There are a lot of parties that do well on the highest difficulty setting. There really isn't one build that will crush the game, or one party. It depends a bit on your style and what you want since different classes do different things well:īest Tank: Paladin or Fighter (technically a Wizard can get a higher defense but it takes them a few seconds to buff up to that level)
